Heinz Grant
We thank Heinz for their generous grant and remembering us during these difficult times. We are honored by the assistance, and by the nomination from one of our customers which was as follows:
“The Canal Wigwam Restaurant

The Canal Wigwam restaurant is located in Canal Winchester, Ohio, a suburb of Columbus, Ohio. This historic city was founded in 1828 and was connected to the Ohio Erie canal system. The first canal boat passed through the village in 1831.
The Wigwam restaurant is one of the oldest in central Ohio. It has been continuously operated in Canal Winchester since 1899 and from the current location since 1922. It is an all-around classic diner offering home cooked meals to everyone’s liking. Whether you are stopping for a daily special or just coming by for a cup of coffee and conversation there is something there for everyone in their laid-back atmosphere. The staff and the owners are extremely helpful and very friendly. Known as “The Gathering Place,” people of all ages and from all walks of life (from local pastors of various denominations to farmers in the area) dine there. Actually Vice President Pence visited the diner on his visit to Ohio last Summer.
One thing I like about it is that it reminds me of an old “Mom and Pop” restaurant, with red padded leather chairs with metal legs and padded booths, one like I used to go to when I was a little child. Pictures of children from Canal decorate an entire wall. Several of my favorite memories are when the owner, Mark Savino, came over and sat down next to the booth with us and engaged us in normal down to earth conversation, and adding his own humor to the mix! Mark has also catered meals for many of our family functions and celebrations. All in all it is an integral community gathering spot enjoyed by the citizens of Canal. I hope you all can come someday and experience the atmosphere and food like no other.
Thanks for selecting the Wigwam to receive funds through the Heinz for Diners program. I think it is kind of ironic that a guy like me, one of Canal Wigwam’s customers, with the last name of Mustard, would be lucky enough to submit a winning entry for a ketchup grant. Submitted by Steve Mustard”
Please come share a booth and Heinz ketchup with us!
